Traders ask politicians to get united for corrupt generals' accountability.

LAHORE -- All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, has warned political parties to get united for accountability of corrupt generals, as their corruption has not only marred the face of politics but also ruined the economy, resulting state-run corporations completely bankrupt.

In a statement issued here on Saturday APAT central general secretary Naeem Mir

said that the politicians should now show some courage to bring the generals involved in NLC Scandal, Royal Palm Scam, Akbar Bugti's killing and Asghar Khan Case to justice under civilian procedure.

"For complete liberty from the clutches of tyrants and yearning for the fruits of democracy, the political parties should set aside all differences, uniting on one agenda of making corrupt generals accountable for the first time in history", he added.

He said that the hidden lesson of Asghar Khan Case is that corrupt generals cannot escape the clutches of accountability. He said that the change in the thinking pattern of public is praiseworthy due to anti-corruption stance taken by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The stance depicts that corruption is rampant in the state institutions of Pakistan and people are weary of this.

He said that political parties as well as the Pak army should develop a consensus to stamp out this corruption from society through legislation as well as accountability, as judiciary has already done its task. He appealed the present leadership of army to avoid supporting those corrupt generals who have earned the bad name for this great institution. He said that if Pakistan is to make progress, all should defend democracy and state institutions should be cleansed from the scourge of corruption.

There is long history of sacrifices of PPP for democracy in Pakistan as its leaders including ZA Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Murtaza Bhutto sacrificed their lives. In the same way Mian Nawaz Sharif suffered a long exile for the cause of democracy. He said that the PML-N is struggling against dictatorship for last 20 years.

To defend democracy, the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) on the Asghar Khan case is an opportunity for all politicians to implement it in letter and spirit. Mian Nawaz Sharif has expressed his willingness to subject himself to the investigations that will be conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The gesture is a good omen for the democratic future of Pakistan. He asked the PML-N to play its role for uniting all democratic circles, as nation needs accountability not elections.
