Tracy Barlow - innocent or guilty?

CORONATION Street bad girl Tracy Barlow will follow in her mother's footsteps tonight when she goes on trial.

Scheming Tracy, played by Kate Ford, is accused of murdering her partner Charlie Stubbs by bashing him on the head with an ornament.

But unlike her mother Deirdre, who was sensationally jailed in 1998 for a fraud she did not commit, Tracy is guilty as charged.

She plotted to murder Charlie in cold blood after deliberately giving the impression that he was abusing her.

Viewers last night saw super-bitch Tracy confess her guilt to Deirdre, who must wrestle with her conscience over whether to tell the truth and condemn her daughter to prison.

Bosses on the ITV1 soap filmed two endings in order to prevent the storyline being leaked.

In one, Tracy is convicted of Charlie's murder and jailed for life. In the other, she is found not guilty but has to flee Weatherfield with daughter Amy after Deirdre blows the lid on her lies. Viewers must wait until Monday April 2 to find out which ending is broadcast.

DOUBLE TAKE... Tracy's shock at being found guilty and, inset, her joy at getting away with murder.; GUILTY...; OR NOT?
