Tractor production increased by 78.90% in 8 months.

ISLAMABAD -- Tractor production in the country during first eight months of the current financial year increased by 78.90 per cent as compared the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-February 2016-17, about 31,498 tractors were manufactured against 17,606 during the same period last year.

According the computation of Quantum Index Numbers of large scale manufacturing industries released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for February, 2017, some 5,515 tractors were manufactured as compared the 3,124 tractors during the same month last year.

Meanwhile, domestic production of trucks also grew by 43.18 per cent during the period under review and was recorded at 4,888 against 3,414 of the same period of last year.

On month-on-month basis, in February, 2017, 502 trucks were manufactured against 583 trucks in the same month last year.

Similarly, production of buses also grew by 20 per cent as

803 buses were manufactured during the first eight months of current financial year against 644 during the same period last year.

Domestic production of jeeps and cars also increased by 2.59 per cent as about 125,503 jeeps and cars were produced during the period under review as compared 122,335 during the same period last year.
