Toyota drives forward its new pay-as-you-go safety scheme.
It amounts to a combination of the latest electronic wizardry, additional airbags and child seat mounts.
Vehicle stability control with traction control becomes an option across the Yaris range while integrated active drive is on offer for the RAV4 XT3, which is already standard on all other RAV4 models.
Stability control automatically adjusts engine power and individual wheel braking when a loss of grip or the onset of a skid is detected. Traction control further aids handling by preventing wheel-spin when pulling away or driving on low-grip surfaces.
All Yaris models, except the entry-level T2 grade, are further equipped with front side and curtain airbags plus a driver's knee airbag.
On RAV4 XT3 models with manual transmission, there is a new option with Hill-start Assist Control and those with an automatic gearbox also gain hill descent control.
Prices are pounds 350 for stability control and traction control on the Yaris and pounds 560 for integrated active drive on the RAV4 XT3.
For the entry-level Aygo, side and curtain airbags, vehicle stability control with traction control and rear headrests are available at pounds 960.
For Aygo+ and Aygo Black models with side airbags already fitted the option pack includes curtain airbags and stability control with traction control.
Air conditioning is also included in that pack's pounds 1,180 price tag.
