Toy torchers jailed over cruelty rap; court.
The children told of their ordeal after social workers investigated why they were not at school and found they lived in a squalid house that reeked of cannabis.
They had bruises on their faces and buttocks and three of them shared a mattress in the living room as a bed.
Both parents were quizzed when the three boys and a girl were taken into care.
The man, 47, was jailed for three years and the woman, 26, for two, after admitting cruelty charges.
They told Leeds crown court they were not used to children but judge James Spencer said: "This goes beyond inexperience."
