Town boost.

THE heart of a town will be revamped with a facelift.

Almost pounds 2m is set to be invested into Bedlington, Northumberland, which will see a focus on the town's tree-lined main street.

A bid by Wansbeck District Council for pounds 587,000 in heritage lottery funding towards the market place revamp has been successful under the Townscape Heritage Initiative.

With pounds 937,000 in council funding and pounds 400,000 from Northumberland's Local Transport Plan, it means that pounds 1.92m will be spent in Front Street over the next five years.
