Tower Hamlets Council Speaker meets Speaker.
The first-ever Bangladeshi woman speaker of Tower Hamlets Council Sabina Akhtar Tuesday met with the Speaker of the Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here, reports BSS. During the meeting, they discussed about Rohingya and development of Bangladesh and British Bangladeshis issues, said a press release. Dr Chaudhury greeted Sabina for being a first woman Speaker of Tower Hamlets and said, "Image of Bangladesh has brightened up while a British Bangladeshi was elected as the Speaker of Tower Hamlets." Praising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a kind leader, Sabina said, "She (Sheikh Hasina) was praised by the world leaders for giving shelter to Rohingyas and provides them other essential services."
"The repatriation process of Rohingyas was going on following the five-point demand of the Premier that placed to the United Nations General Assembly on September last. Earlier, Sabina met with Social Welfare Minister Rashed khan Menon at his residence. At the meeting, Sabina expressed her eagerness to establish a center for differently able people of the country. Chairman of the Centre for Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRB) M S Shokil was present at both the meeting.
