Tower Air releases February 1996 traffic results; reports increased scheduled service traffic.

JOHN F.KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- March 7, 1996--Tower Air, Inc. (Nasdaq National Market:TOWR) today reported similar total block hours flown in February 1996 of 2,519 hours compared to the year ago figure of 2,599 hours.

For the two-month period ended Feb. 29, 1996, total block hours flown decreased 1.7% to 5,649 hours from 5,746 hours during the same period in 1995.

Scheduled passenger service available seat miles (ASMs) in February 1996 increased 18.2% to 324 million from 274 million in February 1995. For the two-month period ended Feb. 29, 1996, ASMs increased 17.0% to 736 million from 629 million in the comparable 1995 period.

Scheduled service revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in February 1996 increased 19.0% to 225 million from 189 million in February 1995. For the two-month period ended Feb. 29, 1996, RPMs increased 17.3% to 508 million from 433 million in 1995.

The increases in scheduled passenger service ASMs and RPMs in February 1996 when compared to the same period in 1995, were attributable to increased passenger traffic in the San Juan, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Tel Aviv markets.

Tower Air, one of the busiest U.S. carriers at John F. Kennedy International Airport, operates scheduled domestic and international service from New York to Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, San Juan, Sao Paulo and Tel Aviv. Additionally, the company provides world-wide commercial and military charters as well as cargo air service.
