Tourism bonus.

HORSES, particularly those from Ireland, are likely to start arriving in Tregaron today.

With the festival dubbed the Cheltenham of harness racing, there is bound to be a huge following from across the Irish Sea. Many will stay in the area for a week, boosting the local tourist trade.

The event is always a logistical headache for the organisers, with over 40 stables needed for those horses that stay with their trainers for the full three days. Once again they have come up trumps. Thursday's eight-race card begins at 5pm, and there will be a 2pm start on the other two days.
