Tourism Minister Encourages Students to Participate in Ministry's Programs.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has invited students to participate in various tourism programs of the Ministry of Tourism, namely the Wonderful Startup Academy, Digital Destination Development with GenPI, and development of Nomadic Tourism business as a temporary or final solution.
The invitation was conveyed by Minister Arief Yahya in his speech as the keynote speaker at the event of Sustainable Tourism for Economic Development. About 1000 Bunda Mulia University students attended the event held at the Grand Auditorium of Bunda Mulia University on Wednesday (9/5).
Arief Yahya delivered a presentation entitled 'Sustainable Tourism: The Role of Tourism in Economic Development and Indonesian People's Welfare', explaining the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector, the role of sustainable tourism, and young entrepreneurship in tourism.
'Tourism development must always prioritize the principle called 3P, standing for Planet, People, and Prosperity. It's described further into priority elements of environmental sustainability, community participation and community welfare,' said Arief Yahya.
Regarding the program of young entrepreneurship in tourism, the minister invites the students to join the Wonderful Startup Academy, Digital Destination Development with GenPI, and the development of Nomadic Tourism business.
For the Wonderful Startup Academy, Minister Arief Yahya explained that the program aims to generate startups in the tourism, initiated by the youngsters from a number of regions in Indonesia. The program is expected to be able to embrace many local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), where they will be given training and working capital.
'Tourism SMEs do not bring in many foreign tourists to the country directly, but surely they play a significant role in various things, such as developing Indonesia's tourism business sector,' said Arief Yahya.
On the occasion, the minister also inaugurated the Generation of Indonesian Enchantment (GenPI) of Bunda Mulia University. During the inauguration, he was accompanied by Special Staff for Communication Don Kardono and Sustainable Tourism Expert Valerina Daniel.
