In Africa, the health care industry is plagued by social, economic, political, cultural, structural, and organizational problems that make reform and restructuring critical. This text explains how the principles and processes of Total Quality Management (TQM) can be used to identify needed changes and create an effective and efficient health care delivery system. The author also evaluates a couple of quality assurance programs currently being implemented in the African healthcare industry. Morfaw works as an independent project management consultant.
