Total Lunar Eclipse to Be Witnessed across Syria on Wednesday.

A total lunar eclipse will be witnessed across Syria on Wednesday which will last for one and a half hour starting at 09:23 pm.

The Syrian Amateur Astronomers Association (SAAA) will hold a 3-hour astronomy evening in Sahnaia suburb to watch the eclipse as well as a number of planets and celestial bodies and shoot them through telescopes via giant screens.

Scientific and astronomical lectures and shows will be held during the evening which will last over three hours with the participation of a number of professional and amateur astronomers.

Mohammad al-Ousairi, Head of the SAAA, said the total lunar eclipse will go through all phases starting from South America and Europe to Africa and the Middle East reaching Asia and Australia.

"What is special about this eclipse is that it occurs between two eclipses; the first happened in the beginning of June, while the other one will take place by the beginning of July," added al-Ousairi.
