Total Gallery handed 2011 Abbaye target.
LAST season's Prix de l'Abbaye winner Total Gallery will join Makfi's trainer Mikel Delzangles next season with the primary aim of winning France's leading sprint again, writes Ed Prosser.
The son of Namid was bought privately by Qatari investors in October, headed by Sheikh Fahad Al-Thani, who also purchased Makfi to stand as a stallion at David Redvers' Tweenhills Stud.
At the time of the purchase Redvers said Total Gallery was bought as a "long-term investment" by the Qataris, who have since secured his dam Diary for 1.3 million gns. "We have taken soundings as to where the best place to stand him is - either in the UK or France [where Namid currently stands], although the best thing may be to try to get him back to his winning ways of last season," Redvers explained at the time.
But confirming the plan to race Total Gallery, he said: "Total Gallery will be going to Mikel Delzangles and will race for Qatar Bloodstock. I'm a great fan of Mikel and he [Total Gallery] can travel abroad as well as racing in France. The main target will be to win another Abbaye."
