Toshiba Receives 2006 INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) Excellence Award.

Toshiba Strata CIX IP Business Communication System Honored for Delivering Exceptional VoIP/IP Telephony Solutions

IRVINE, Calif. -- Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. Telecommunication Systems Division (TAIS TSD) has been named the recipient of Technology Marketing Corporation's (TMC([R])) INTERNET TELEPHONY([R]) magazine (www.itmag.com) 2006 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award. This award honors companies whose products have delivered winning VoIP solutions for their customers' needs. Toshiba is honored for its Strata([R]) CIX[TM] IP business communication system at Manhattan Beachwear, which was installed by Authorized Toshiba Dealer Transcom of Paramount, Calif.

"A leader in the VoIP industry, Toshiba has advanced VoIP technology in the marketplace by providing real-world solutions that are embraced by enterprises, including its installation at Manhattan Beachwear," said Rich Tehrani, editor-in-chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine. "Toshiba's Manhattan Beachwear solution has earned Toshiba this award by delivering on the promise of VoIP in a productivity-improving, cost-saving application."

"We are honored to receive the INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine 2006 Excellence Award for the Toshiba Strata CIX system installation at Manhattan Beachwear," said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba's Telecommunication Systems Division. "We applaud our Authorized Toshiba Dealer Transcom in designing and installing the VoIP system at Manhattan Beachwear, which succeeds in maximizing VoIP capabilities to provide worldwide mobility, support for remote users and a significant cost savings."

Manhattan Beachwear of Cypress, Calif., (www.manhattanbeachwear.com), is a leading manufacturer of women's swimwear, producing millions of swimsuits each year. It relies on its Toshiba Strata CIX IP business communication system to connect its facilities and remote and mobile workers around the world. Among its many benefits are:

* VoIP-Connected Offices Around the World: With offices, showrooms and manufacturing plants in Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, New York and Cypress, Calif. headquarters, Manhattan Beachwear's users can be on the business communication system whether they are on the network, remote or mobile, or even in another country.

* Mobility Virtually Anywhere There's an Internet Connection: Manhattan Beachwear's CEO Scott Soura travels nine months of the year and uses VoIP for complete mobility via Toshiba's SoftIPT softphone as an application on his laptop computer. No matter where he is in the world, from hotel rooms in Vietnam to airports in Mexico, people can reach him simply by calling his office line. He also can conference calls together, transfer calls, and do everything he could as if he were using his desk telephone.

* Eliminated Conference Call Costs: By using the VoIP system, Manhattan Beachwear has eliminated costly conference calls that were up to $3.00 per minute from some countries.

* Eliminated Long Distance Costs Between Offices: The VoIP system eliminated long distance costs of more than $1,300 per month.

* Savings of $36,000 Annually: By using VoIP to replace long distance and paid conference calling services, Manhattan Beachwear saves $36,000 per year.

* "Hot Lines" at Partner Locations: Manhattan Beachwear is a hero to valued partners by installing IP telephones as "hot lines" at the partners' locations, eliminating long distance for the partners. Since many partners are located internationally, in Asia and Mexico, this represented significant cost savings for them at little cost for Manhattan Beachwear.

* Migration Path: Manhattan Beachwear was able to reuse some of its existing Toshiba equipment by migrating from an old Toshiba DK96 business telephone system.

* System Overview: Installed by Authorized Toshiba Dealer Transcom Telecommunications Inc. of Paramount, Calif., this system comprises a Toshiba Strata CIX with 104 ports, Toshiba Stratagy iES32 voice processing system, and a mix of digital and IP telephones, including the Toshiba SoftIPT soft phones on notebook PCs.
