Tory crash horror.

AN ELDERLY woman was close to death last night after being hit by a minibus during David Cameron's tour of India.

The Tory leader was not on the bus at the time but released a statement saying he was "shocked and saddened".

Party aides who had been visiting a slum begged the driver to slow down as he sped them through Mumbai to a lunch with Cameron.

When factory worker Prema Naik stepped out in front of the bus, the impact smashed the windscreen and knocked her unconscious. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she had surgery for a head injury.

The driver was attacked by an angry mob as he tried to leave the scene.

Doctors said Mrs Naik was unlikely to survive.
