Tory's praise for upskirting law-block MP.
Byline: ALAN SELBY
THE MP who tried to stop upskirting being made illegal has been hailed as "gold dust" by his fellow Tory Esther McVey.
The ex-Work and Pensions Secretary heaped praise on Christopher Chope when he hosted a Brexit dinner in his Christchurch constituency.
She said he was so valuable to their party the PM should have involved him in Brexit talks and gushed: "When I say gold dust, I'm being honest."
As well as blocking the upskirting law, Mr Chope objected to a women's conference in Parliament. Both were later approved.
But last month Tory Zac Goldsmith called Mr Chope "appalling" after he blocked plans to make it easier to protect girls from female genital mutilation.
