Tories want details of fraud probe; WJEC.

THE Conservatives today demanded details of a fraud probe into the former employers of deputy First Minister Michael German.

Welsh Tory leader Nick Bourne wants to know the timetable of inquiries by European fraudbusters into the Welsh exams board, the WJEC.

Mr German this month returned to the Welsh Assembly cabinet after police told him he would not face any charges into his past business dealings as head of the WJEC's European unit.

Mr Bourne has contacted the European Court of Auditors three times to see what stage the inquiries are at. But he has not had a response.

``I have contacted them three times asking for the state of play,'' he told a press conference at the Welsh Assembly.

``I have not had a reply, but I will be following it again.''
