Tories in defection to UKIP over 'food banks'.

THREE Cannock councillors have defected from the Conservatives to Euro-sceptic party UKIP after seeing food banks set up in the town.

Married Cannock councillors John and Ann Bernard, who both represent Hawks Green ward, and parish councillor Alan Dean have swapped sides.

In a statement they blamed the impact of Government cuts. They said: "We have found it increasingly difficult to justify the effects of decisions made within Parliament that are having an effect on our local community. Who would have thought Cannock in the 21st Century would need food banks?" They went on to say that UKIP wants to protect the British way of life.
