Topuzov has high hopes for Abbas in London.

Coach says the jumper just needs time in order to prove he is one of the best

Dubai Mohammad Abbas' coach, Svetoslav Topuzov believes his ward can scale even greater heights just in time for the London Olympic Games in 2012.

"He has shown so much of improvement since the past one year. He started off by jumping 15.90 metre in the triple, and now he has achieved a personal best and national record of 16.80 metre in just one year. The road ahead is long and tough, but he can be among the best jumpers," Topuzov said.

Abbas was named the "best athlete" at the West Asian Athletics Championships that concluded last weekend in Aleppo, Syria.

"My aim always is to keep on improving," Abbas told Gulf News. "I set goals for myself and keep on dreaming on how to achieve these."

Abbas has a near perfect technique that enables him to keep on improving.

"There are power jumpers who rely on speed and strength and there are technical jumpers like Abbas who rely on perfect balance and take off," the Bulgarian coach said.

"Give him time and you will see one of the best jumpers. He has been showing gradual improvement and he should be peaking in time for London 2012," Topuzov said.
