BRITAIN'Sbiggest toy seller may be hired to run Littlewoods' retail and home shopping business.

The owners of the Liverpool-based store chain, the Barclay brothers were last night reported to be in talks with former Hamleys toy store boss Simon Burke about running the Littlewoods business. Rose Foster was poised to take up the role of Littlewoods chief executive, but the group managing director of fashion chain Monsoon reversed her decision at the beginning of the month. Reports claim that the Barclays, who bought Littlewoods for pounds 750m last November, have approached Dublin-born Mr Burke, who joined the struggling toy giant four years ago and turned the business around into a pounds 59m acquisition target of Icelandic retail investor Baugur last month.
