Top seeds ease into last-four stage at Dubai tennis event.

Dubai: The top seeds stayed on course for the finals in the boys' and girls' categories with easy wins against their opponents to reach the semi-finals of the 12th Al Wasl Club Dubai ITF Junior Championships here late on Thursday, the penultimate day of the event.

Top seed Julian Ocleppo of Italy eased past Yemen's Amer Mohammad Abdo 6-1, 6-2 to set up a meeting with fifth seed Alexey Prokopchuk from Ukraine, who earned a hard-fought 2-6, 7-6 (6), 6-0 win over UAE-based Kareem Allaf of Syria.

Second seed Shamael Chaudhry of Great Britain recorded a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Youssef Hossam of Egypt in the lower half of the draw, while seventh seed Ghassan Alansi booked his place in the last four with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over third seed Akram Al Sallaly.

In the girls' competition, top seed Tessa Andrianjafitrimo whitewashed Habiba Khalid Ali of Egypt 6-0, 6-0 to earn a semi-final against Egyptian Habiba Shaker, who registered a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Dubai-based Indian Sanjana Sudhir.

In the lower half of the draw, second seed Habiba Lasheen defeated Rana Essam 6-1, 6-3, while fourth seed Natalya Malenko of Ukraine got the better of Great Britain's Emily Appleton 6-4, 6-4.

Sponsored by Al Wasl Sports Club, Prince, London Suites, Noon Kabab Restaurant, Ice Point, Masafi and Red Bull under the supervision of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Tennis Emirates, the girls' and boys' singles finals will be played at Al Wasl Club from 2pm on Saturday.
