Top MP official in corruption net shoots himself.

A RETIRED official of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board committed suicide by shooting himself. V. K. Brahamankar, 72, was depressed over repeated court hearings in relation to a corruption case against him.

Brahamankar left two suicide notes, one addressed to the police and the other to his family.

" In his suicide note, he wrote that he was upset as he had to attend court hearings in Jabalpur. And because of the ongoing case, he was unable to visit his son in the US," Rajesh Bhodoria, city superintendent of police ( Habibganj), said.

Brahamankar had appealed the court to allow him to visit his son in America but because the trial was on, his request was denied. A family member said this, coupled with repeated court hearings in relation to a 1997 case, drove him to take the extreme step.
