Top Gear (BBC2, 8pm) Everything, [...].

Top Gear (BBC2, 8pm) Everything, they say, is bigger in America. So when Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May head out west to tour the States on another epic road trips, you can be sure that they're not going to be doing anything by halves. Jeremy's choice is the Lexus LFA, James selects the Aston Martin Vanquish, and Richard's supercar is a Dodge Viper. As they travel from Vegas to Palm Springs, they end up in a race against the police, before rushing to the Mexican border.

Call the Midwife (BBC1, 8pm) This week's helping shows why, as twin market traders Meg and Mave (who make the rough regulars in Albert Square look refined by comparison) create cause for concern. Yes, you guessed it, one of them is expecting. Meanwhile, Jenny is seconded to an understaffed London hospital, and is reluctant to carry out her duties because of intimidating surgeon Mr Tracey.

Mr Selfridge (ITV1, 9pm) Dubbed Downton with tills, this series' makers perhaps didn't set out to produce a guilty pleasure, but as long as people are tuning in they probably don't care. Jeremy Piven has won a new batch of fans thanks to his charismatic performance as entrepreneur Harry Selfridge. The character never seems to be without a smile, but even he's knocked sideways when Henri informs him Agnes, still feeling humiliated by her father's behaviour at the shop, has handed in her notice. Can Harry persuade her not to leave?
