Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, 12, pounds 19.99 Young Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn) has lost father Thomas (Tom Hanks) in 9/11, shattering the happy home of his mum Linda (Sandra Bullock).

They used to play a scavenger hunt game on the streets of New York. Oskar finds a key left by his dad and is convinced that Thomas had left him a clue to a new game. Can he find the lock and discover his dad's mysterious legacy? Man on a Ledge, 12, pounds 19.99 Ex-cop Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) is jailed for stealing a diamond from David Englander (Ed Harris).

On leave, Nick attends his dad's funeral, escapes custody and heads for a hotel where he steps on to a ledge.

Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks) tries to talk him down, unaware Nick's brother Joey (Jamie Bell) and his girlfriend (Genesis Rodriguez) are poised to breach Englander's private vault.

The Muppets, U, pounds 17.99 In Smalltown, population 102, a Muppet called Walter (voiced by Peter Linz) lives with his human brother Gary (Jason Segel), who is about to celebrate 10 years with his girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams).

They head off to LA, where Walter discovers that scheming oil man Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) plans to bulldoze the Muppet Theatre and drill for the black gold that lies beneath. The only way to thwart Richman is to rally the troops.

So Walter galvanises Kermit, Miss Piggy Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the gang into organising a televised appeal supported by celebrity guests, including Whoopi Goldberg and Selena Gomez.

The Muppets is a perfect family film with broad humour to appeal to all ages.
