Toothbrush duty for 74% of teachers.

SOME 74% of teachers have daily teeth brushing sessions for primary pupils who do not do it at home.

And 81% told a survey they brought breakfast to stop children going hungry.

Childcare.co.uk found teachers plugging gaps in basic care with 95% saying they had bought items including sanitary products.

Asked why they did it, 34% said their school was in a deprived area and 11% believed children were being neglected at home.

Childcare.co.uk said: "It shouldn't be up to a teacher to do these things."

"This week a survey by the GMB union found low-paid class assistants regularly having to bring in food for children.
