Toon trophy for sale.

NEWCASTLE: A REMINDER of Newcastle United's trophy-winning purple patch in the 1950s will be sold today.

Auctioneers Bonhams will offer United's Charity Shield plaque from 1952 for PS600-PS800 at their sale in Chester.

Newcastle won the FA Cup three times in the 1950s and faced league champions Manchester United in the Charity Shield, losing 4-2. Also in the sale at PS300-PS400 is an England shirt worn by Alan Shearer in the 1998 France finals.

Salvers presented to Sunderland's 1973 FA Cup winning scorer Ian Porterfield plus signatures from the final team are for sale at PS100-PS200.

A 1966 World Cup final programme, autographed by Northumberland brothers Bobby and Jackie Charlton is PS100-PS200.
