Too late to stop 'global weirding' Views of the North.

I HEAR the new terms for what happened to us this year are "climate disruption" and "global weirding". I am at a loss as to how these differ from climate change and global warming but it is clear now that not only is it too late to do anything about the process but also no country on earth has any intention of cutting fossil fuel energy consumption by the slightest amount.

In the North East we are likelier to be wetter and hungrier but the worst effects will as usual be felt by the most disadvantaged on the planet. What is difficult to know is whether we ever had a chance to do the right thing or was the folly that led us to this point built into our DNA like warfare? KENNETH HUGHES, Tynemouth, North Tyneside
