Tony O'Hehir: Good t o see Casey joining celebr at ions.

Byline: Tony O'Hehir

AMONGthe gathering in Leighlinbridge on Sunday night, it was good to see David Casey - whose role in Hedgehunter's chasing career was rightly acknowledged by Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh after the National - in the middle of the celebrations.

Out of action since the Fairyhouse Easter meeting, Casey, complete with a neck collar supporting the fractured vertebrae he suffered in a hurdle-race fall, is hoping to be back in time to renew his successful association with Rule Supreme when he bids for a second consecutive French Champion Hurdle win at Auteuil in June.

That is Casey's aim, although others have put down the Galway Festival at the end of July as a more likely return date. It will all depend on what his medical team advise.

What matters now is that he is on the mend and focused on returning to action as quickly as possible.
