Tony Blair asks A[pounds sterling]10 a pupil for youngest son's end-of-term party.

London, June 20 (ANI): Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is hosting his youngest son's end-of-term party, is said to have asked parents of pupils to pay 10 pounds each as entry.

Parents were told the money was for security reasons, as no one is allowed to drive to the Grade I listed home, a coach had to be hired to take the children from central London.

It was for this that Blair, 58, and his wife, Cherie, wanted to charge.

"I'm livid. The Blairs are rich and can afford it, but lots of families in the area are poor," the Telegraph quoted one mother as saying.

Such was the outcry that the Blairs have been forced to perform an about-face, offering to pay for any child whose parents cannot afford the journey.

"The Blairs have agreed with the headmaster that if any family can't afford the cost of the coach, then they won't have to pay," a spokesman for Blair's office said. (ANI)
