Tommy jail card banned.
Bosses at Barlinnie prison refused to allow the shamed former MSP's wife Gail to hand over a giant card signed by 150 friends, including George Galloway.
Wardens claimed the card was a risk to security yesterday when Gail tried to hand it over during visiting time on his 47th birthday.
Hang-glide Last night, a source close to Gail said: "The birthday card was signed by supporters at a Defend Tommy Sheridan meeting last week.
"Gail was disappointed. Tommy went to a room to view the card, but he was not allowed to get his hands on it or take it to his cell. Heaven only knows what kind of security risk the card was.
"Maybe they were worried he might be a nasty paper cut from it. Or maybe he could hang-glide out of his cell with it strapped to his back."
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: "Items cannot be handed to prisoners at visiting time."
