Toll free number installed at AGP office for public complaints.

ISLAMABAD -- The Auditor General of Pakistan, Rana Assad Amin has introduced Whistle Blowing Policy in his department by introducing a toll free phone number 0800-22999 in the Vigilance Section of (IRV and MT) Wing to facilitate the public to register complaints.

'Those who want to lodge any complaint against official conduct of any functionary of the Department or point out any wrong doing in any office of the department, may call Syed Asad Ali Shah, AAO, Vigilance Section without any charges,' said a press statement issued here.

A strict procedure has also been devised according to which the person lodging the complaint will have to identify himself/herself and provide his name, designation, address and CNIC number for further reference.

Under the rules issued by the government of Pakistan, the complainant may be asked to give an affidavit on stamp paper to the effect that the allegations leveled by him/her are true and correct.

The complainant may also be asked to give an undertaking that in case he/she fails to prove the allegations, the Department or the person against whom the complaint is lodged may initiate legal action against him/her.

The Personal information of the complainant will be kept confidential, it said adding the complaints should not be against the personal and family affairs of a functionary unless it has a direct bearing on his official conduct.

The complaints should not be on trivial matters and the complainant will have to provide documentary evidence in support of his allegations.

If the contents of complaint are found correct and supported by documentary evidence, AGP may order inquiry/disciplinary action against the functionary under the relevant rules.
