Tobacco thief sought.

Police are looking for a suspected tobacco robber after two would-be crooks were nabbed breaking into a tobacco barn in the Burford area.

On Oct. 24 at about 1 a.m. a farmer was alerted to a break-in in progress at one of his storage barns on the 5th Concession. After seeing two people flee the scene, he and police were able to find and arrest two men.

Aaron Smuck, 31, and Michael Anderson, 23, both of Brantford were charged with trespassing or prowling near a dwelling. A third man is still being sought. Anyone with information is asked to contact the O.P.P. at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Farmers are reminded to be vigilant in the security of their property.

* Keep barns secure at all times.

* Keep the property well lit. Dusk to dawn and motion lights will assist with this.

* Be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.

* If the dog barks, investigate--at all times.
