Tobacco, betel leaf main causes of mouth cancer.

LAHORE, November 20, 2011 (Balochistan Times): Cancer is the second common killer in Pakistan while tobacco and betel leaf (Paan) are main causes of mouth cancer. Prof Dr Muhammad Arshad Cheema, Chairman Department of Surgery and Director Research King Edward Medical University Lahore, said this while talking to APP here on Saturday. He said that cigarettes and chewing Paan containing tobacco led to mouth cancer while overuse of red meat and grilled meat was the second source of cancer. He said that four out of 10 cancer cases could be prevented by following guidelines. The use of fresh fruit and vegetables prevents many types of cancer particularly of large intestine and breast, he added.
