DESPITE the doom and gloom of the news, we could all be a lot worse off.

Other countries are in a far worse state. We have the NHS, good schools and shops with plenty of food on sale. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about the weather.

We blame politicians for our problems but the alternative is a dictatorship. Let's be grateful for living here.

STAN Collymore is so right about the latest spat between Rafa Benitez and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Is it any wonder players show no respect when top managers engage in these wars of words? What a pity they can't get on with the job of managing their own clubs.

R Kedge, Luton, Beds WE hear Pound Shops are increasing their profits during this recession. Surely, with the reduction in VAT they should be called "Less Than A Pound" Shops.
