To Push Non-Container Business, Pelindo III Cooperates with 4 Partners.

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) has cooperated with four partners in the development of non-container businesses and industrial estates.

Based on a report on Friday (1/26), Pelindo III has cooperated with PT Optima Sinergi Comvestama to develop liquefied natural gas terminal (LNG) at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang. Pelindo III also cooperates with PT Gresik Jasatama in the management of log terminal and bulk goods in the Gresik Port.

President Director of Pelindo III, IG. N. Askhara Danadiputra, said his company has also collaborated with PT Kawasan Industri Kendal (KIK) and Regional Development Agency of Surabaya Madura (BPWS) in the development of industrial estates.

'We have the initiative to involve the private companies to boost the productivity of non-container businesses in the port and accelerating the development of industrial estates in some regions,' said Askhara Danadiputra, familiarly called Ari Askhara.

In Kendal, Pelindo III's partnership with KIK includes the cooperation in logistics and port services, as well as the operation and the funding on the development of Kendal Industrial Park and Kendal International Port.

Previously, the Surabaya-based state-owned enterprise (SOE) had signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of Kendal Port with the Government of Kendal Regency.

In Madura, Pelindo III cooperates with BPWS to prepare the documents for the development study on Tanjung Bulupandan Port which is integrated with Madura Special Area (KKM) and Special Industrial Zone.

Ari said the economic growth in Madura should be as fast as the growth in East Java. 'We are determined to make Madura achieve the economic growth as fast as Surabaya,' Ari added.

Meanwhile Head of Execution Division of the Suramadu Development Agency (BPWS) Herman Hidayat said the development of Tanjung Bulupandan Port would accelerate the economic growth in Madura. 'Four regencies on Madura Island are among the poorest in East Java,' he concluded.
