Titans split with Chemeketa in NWAACC baseball.

SALEM - Cody Chagnon had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to lead Lane Community College to a 3-2 victory over Chemeketa in the opening game of an NWAACC baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

Dawson Phinney combined with three other pitchers to earn the victory for the Titans (12-10). Cody Pittman had three hits for Chemeketa, and Ryan Smith pitched a complete-game four-hitter.

In the second game, former North Eugene standout Garrett Mills hit an RBI single for the game-winning run in the fifth inning, and Chemeketa earned the split with a 2-1 victory.

William Koenig was 2-for-3 for the Storm. Chagnon and Nic Coffman each went 2-for-3 with a double for Lane.

Crossman betters Lane record

Lane distance runner Gylany Crossman beat a record from 1977 in her 3,000-meter race at the Oregon Twilight meet on Saturday at Hayward Field.

Crossman finished in 9 minutes, 48.73 seconds to beat Debbie Roth's mark of 9:49.80 from 1977.

She finished fourth in the race.
