Tis the season to have fun ... Subtle touches to the interior of your home will help you to feel festive says Samantha Gillin.

IT'S the most wonderful time of the year and it's a pleasure for me to share with you a few of my favourite Christmas decor themes and ideas. I hope you love them as much as I do.

The winter wonderland look Think brisk, cool snowy landscapes which combine icy blue tones with subtle colours found in nature and the obvious lashings of white.

Ice crystal snowflake decorations, hanging from Christmas trees and lots of glitter bring the beauty of a crystalline winter! To add cosiness, combine natural elements which will help to create a homely Christmas feel. For example finely spraying large twigs silver, gold or white and adding lots of glamorous decor.

If this look seems too "icy" and stark for you but you like the idea of it, try adding splashes of navy and gold which will complement whilst adding warmth at the same time.

Elegance Gold, silver, copper and pretty much all shiny metal hues mixed create serious glamour and festiveness. Mix these colours with pearls and crystals for a truly sophisticated elegant theme. Try incorporating reflective surfaces such as mirrored plates and decorations to help maximize glamour.

Golden frames trimmed with pretty fairy lights would help to bring this lovely pastime look into the present- try some pearled fairy lights to create a vintage feel. Red and gold traditionalist may feel that they have found their new luxury oasis in the warmth of this richly decorated theme. To modernise or add colour try adding rich jewel tones for even more opulence, for example navy's, burgundy, emerald greens and deep purples.

Quirky toy factory Think wooden toy soldier meets dolls house, lots of red with plenty of different colours mixed amongst it. This look is so fun and easy enough to achieve, by keeping your favourite existing decorations and just updating a few.

Go for vibrant, colourful and playfullooking figurines that have the traditional handmade workshop look. These character accessories are a great way to add even more fun to a child's Christmas while remaining classic and tasteful to please the adults.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
