TIMMINS OFFICE

Trow Consulting Engineers Ltd. is opening a new office and laboratory in Timmins this month.

The Brampton Ont.-based company currently has staff in Timmins who are working on the construction of the Timmins and District Hospital.

The new office on Algonquin Boulevard will be managed by Dan Cacciotti, an engineer from the company's Sudbury operation. It will also have a technician whose primary function will be to service the testing needs of the construction of the hospital.

The type of testing undertaken on the hospital project will include footing base inspections, concrete cylinder testing, rock dowel inspections, soils compaction testing and general rock evaluation. In addition, the project includes evaluating and capping two old mine shafts.

Trow expects to hire an additional three or four people for the Timmins office by the end of the summer. It is predicting a period of growth for the Timmins economy and intends to develop a stronger presence in the local construction industry.
