US magazine Time has selected social networking website MySpace and video website YouTube amongst its 50 'coolest websites' of the year.
Time splits website choices into categories such as shopping, news and entertainment, evaluating hundreds of websites, some of which have been suggested by colleagues, readers and friends.
According to Time, which has keep an annual list since 2003, MySpace is a site where music and film careers are launched and single people find friends. The networking site reportedly has 100m registered users.
Many of the websites selected by Time for the 2006 list are 'web 2.0' sites, which enable users to create and share content online and discuss media from video clips to blog posts.
Time also chose sites including online instant message service Meebo, Google spreadsheets, visual search engine Pixsy, music service Pandora and smart search engine Accoona.
