Time running out for elephants.

AN IVORY hour glass is on display in Liverpool to publicise the plight of elephants.

The two-metre timepiece is filled with crushed ivory, ground down from pieces donated to the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

Campaigners unveiled the hour glass at Merseyside Maritime Museum yesterday, the grains of ivory representing time running out for elephants hunted by poachers.

The exhibit will be on show for the rest of the summer
