Check

Halo 2 (Bungie, XBox, pounds 39. 99)

BREATHE easy; it has arrived. One of the titles that announced the Xbox's arrival on the console scene, Halo simply blew away all first person shooters that went before it (with the possible exception of Half Life). Ultra-challenging AI, a fantastic storyline, superlative graphics and a multi-player mode to die for it had the lot. Well, the sequel is here, and you can just re-read that last sentence for an overview and then double it. Pushing the Xbox to its limits, Halo 2 adds a wealth of technological and game play advancements creating an enhanced experience for the gamer that simply shoots into the stratosphere when the on line mode comes into play.

Prepare to lose many hours of your life because of this game it's worth it.

9/10 Master chief

The Urbz: Sims In The City (Nintendo, Gamecube, pounds 39. 99) If you've heard of the Sims (and let's face it, who hasn't?) it won't take you long to get the hang of The Urbz. Effectively, those life-loving computer creations on the PC have upped sticks and moved from their humble suburban neighbourhoods into the urban jungle, giving them a whole new look, feel and life to lead.

Essentially the controls and objectives remain the same, but this console incarnation of The Sims puts the focus much more squarely on building your reputation, rather than remembering to feed yourself and brush your teeth.

And it breathes new life into the series because of that. This has crazy characters, all-new situations to deal with, and more than anything provides a refreshing change for fans of the genre.
