OPENING TIMES: Weekdays12noon-2.30pmand 5.30pm-10.30pm,Saturday and Sunday 12 noon -10.30pm.
ATMOSPHERE: Lively,friendlyand buzzing.
WHO RUNS IT? Maranto's is owned by Liverpool restaurateur Steve Maranto.It's been an institution on Lark Lane for almost 20 years.
WHO GOES? Early evenings and on weekends,especially Sundays, there are a lot of families. Later it's a more mixed crowd with more couples and parties.
SERVICE:Chatty and welcoming.
WHAT'S ON OFFER? The menu has an Italian slant, with lots of pastas,but there's also a good selection of steaks,burgers, chicken and veggie dishes.
SPECIALITIES OF THE HOUSE? Probably the steaks (pounds 11.75-pounds 15.50):choose from t-bone,fillet or sirloin with either smothered,peppered or Diane sauce; and the pastas (pounds 7.95-pounds 8.25)-a choice of 10, including several veggie options.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR THE KIDS (GOODIEBAG)? No gifts for children.
IS THERE A CHILDREN'S MENU AND IS IT VARIED? Yes, the usualchildren's offerings but well done -ribs, chicken nuggets,fish fingers, meat or veggie burgers, all served with potato smiles, waffles or chips and beans; cheese and tomato pizza, macaroni with bolognese or cheese sauce. Ice cream cone included, pounds 3.75each.
IS IT CHILD FRIENDLY? Very, plenty of high chairs and staff will try their best to accommodate requests. TIME OFF RECOMMENDS: Thehomemade baked lasagnes, meat or vegetable, (pounds 7.95each); chicken breast sandwich, served on toasted bread, salad and French fries (pounds 7.95); swordfish steak with pink peppercorn and tomato sauce (pounds 11.50).
