Highwire performer Nik Wallenda took a dramatic stumble as he walked across Baltimore's Inner Harbor on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old, who is a seventh-generation member of the famed "Flying Wallendas" family of circus performers, walked across the harbour area on a 300ft long tightrope strung high above the water.

It comes a week after announcing that he will walk a tightrope over Niagara Falls on June 15.

He is set to walk a two-inch cable strung 1,800ft across Niagara Falls gorge.

A long-standing ban on such stunts in and around Niagara Falls has meant that no one has attempted a high-wire walk there in more than 100 years.
