Tibetan insights at school.

A SENIOR Tibetan official is to visit a Northumberland school.

Tashi Phuntsok, general secretary of Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie, India, will be at Prudhoe Community High School on May 20 to talk to students and teachers.

His visit is expected to raise much-needed funds for a new school building project of Tibetan Homes Foundation, which the Tibet Relief Fund agrees to support financially.

The trip will coincide with a visit to the UK by the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the six million Tibetan people.

The former Tibetan diplomat has travelled widely across Asia, Europe and Africa as emissary of the Dalai Lama and as a civil servant of the Tibetan government in exile.

Mr Phuntsok will be talking to students and teachers at Prudhoe Community High School from 1.45pm about the work of the Tibetan Homes Foundation.
