Tibbett & Britten expands business in USA manufacturing sector. (Company Evolution).

From its leading position in the North American retail logistics market, Tibbett & Britten Group has been rapidly expanding its services in the consumer goods and manufacturing sector. New contracts commencing this autumn involve the operation of major logistics facilities on behalf of two of North America's foremost grocery product manufacturers.

Tibbett & Britten will soon be commencing operations at the last of the four new Procter & Gamble US distribution centres (DCs) that were announced in March. This 70,000 sq m facility in Oxnard, California, will become the third plant warehouse to be operated by Tibbett & Britten on behalf of the consumer goods manufacturer's paper products division. The logistics specialist also operates a further three plant DCs for other Procter & Gamble divisions in the USA.

Services to Procter & Gamble are now being extended with the award of a contract to operate a 24,000 sq m regional flow centre at Santa Fe Springs, Califormia. This facility consolidates merchandise from all Procter & Gambles' divisions to customers on the American West Coast. It will work in tandem with the Chino, California, regional flow centre that has been under Tibbett & Britten management since start-up last autumn.

The news brings the total number of Procter & Gamble facilities operated by Tibbett & Britten in the USA to eight. The Group also operates on behalf of Procter & Gamble Argentina, China and Mexico.

In the American Midwest, Tibbett & Britten has started operating a newly constructed 43,000 sq m regional DC for ConAgra Foods in Lebanon, Indiana. This facility, which moved up to full operational status in July, handles ConAgra's full range of branded dry groceries - consolidating products from several divisions to service customers in the region.

Tibbett & Britten is also scheduled to open a second regional DC for ConAgra at Modesto, California in December, close to where it has been operating a plant warehouse for the manufacturer since November 2001.

Mike Arrowsmith, Chief Executive Officer of Tibbett & Britten said "As North America's leading grocery third party logistics provider, it has long been our intention to supply our full range of logistics services to leading manufacturers as well as retailers. ConAgra Foods and Procter & Gamble are two of the top three manufacturers supplying the grocery trade. We are proud to be serving them in so many locations and developing business in this way."
