CORRECTION (ran 6/4/03): Christina Miller, a Thurston High salutatorian, is the daughter of Andrew and Janice Knori of Springfield, and Danny Miller of Seattle. A story published Monday on Page E6 misspelled Knori's name and omitted one of the parents.

Graduation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hult Center.

Commencement speaker will be retired wrestling coach Gary Bowden.

A baccalaureate service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Thurston High School gymnasium.

Eleven students were named class valedictorian: Colette Griffith, Kristy Headings, Luke Hogle, Erin Kitselman, Rachael Love, Tara Overton, Cole Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Elizabeth Spencer, Tara Stark, Marylesa Wilde

Griffith, the daughter of Gloria and Bruce Griffith, plans to major in chemical engineering at Oregon State University. She has been an active member of cabaret, National Honor Society, vice president of the junior class and student body publicity director.

Headings is the daughter of Karen and John Headings. She plans to attend Eastern Oregon University to major in biology and minor in business. She has been an active member of the school's equestrian team, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of Americ and First Mates peer mentor.

Hogle, the son of Patti and Mark Hogle, plans to attend Cornell University where he will wrestle and pursue a major in the school of arts and sciences. He has been involved in wrestling, Key Club and National Honor Society.

Kitselman is the daughter of Beth and Brad Kitselman. She plans to major in psychology at the Oregon State University. She has been on the school's equestrian team for four years, the equestrian drill team for 3 years, 4-H Horse Club and National Honor Society.

Love is the daughter of Barbara and Harry Love. She plans to attend the Coast Guard Academy and will major in mechanical engineering. She has been involved in band, the bowling club, track and field, Key Club, Bug Club and yearbook.

Overton is the daughter of Toni and Michael Overton. She plans to attend the University of Oregon and major in biology and history. Her activities included varsity track and field, soccer, leadership, Key Club and National Honor Society.

Cole Smith, the son of Sheila Lewellen-Smith and Wayne Smith, plans to attend Portland State University. His plans include playing football and studying civil engineering. He has been active in football, baseball, basketball and leadership, served as student body president and was a member of National Honor Society.

Elizabeth Smith is the daughter of Nancy Stover-Smith and Emery Smith. She plans to attend the University of Washington as a biology major for pre-medical studies. She is currently vice president of National Honor Society, is active in theatre and vocal music and has more than 600 community service hours.

Spencer is the daughter of Christina and Timothy Spencer. She plans to attend Oregon State University as part of the University Honors College and will major in chemical engineering. She has been active in 4-H, equestrian team, German Club, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, track and field and volleyball.

Stark, the daughter of Nancy and Jim Stark, plans to attend Linfield College where she will major in biology. She has been active in Outdoor Club, Macroinvertebrate Collection Group, Mr. THS and National Honor Society.

Wilde is the daughter of Marybeth and Raymond Wilde. She plans to attend George Fox University to study engineering, teaching and neonatal nursing. She has been involved in theatre, choir, National Honor Society, Key Club, science water testing team, drama club and has been a theater costume manager and technician.

Three students, Katrina Eckles, Allyson Leavitt and Christina Miller were named class salutatorian.

Eckles, the daughter of Lee and David Eckles, plans to major in applied visual arts with a focus on graphic design at Oregon State University. She has been a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, environmental club, theater, Mr. THS and yearbook.

Leavitt is the daughter of Brenda and Dan Leavitt. She plans to play volleyball at the University of Oregon. She has been a member of the school's equestrian team, played volleyball and competed in track and field.

Miller, the daughter of Janice Khori and Danny Miller of Seattle, plans to attend the University of Oregon and study business and accounting. She has participated in National Honor Society, mat club statistician and First Mates mentor program.
