Thugs burn down trees.
Limerick firefighters spent over an hour trying to put out blazes in Rathbane, on the city's southside.
Up to 10 trees were set on fire in Sycamore Avenue shortly after 8pm on Wednesday as residents watched the Ireland soccer match on TV.
A fire service spokes-man said: "It appears these youths take a perverse kind of pleasure in setting trees on fire. It is a shame as some of these trees are completely ruined."
Furious residents slammed those responsible as "pure vandals".
