Three new hard disk drive products from IBM unveiled.
IBM has announced three new hard disk drives designed for the high-performance desktop, mobile and new blade server segments.
The first of the hard disk drives is the Deskstar 120GXP, a 3.5 inch desktop hard drive with 120Gb capacity and performing at 7200 RPM. According to IBM, it has a low power consumption and is intended for data-intensive multimedia applications that rely on speed and power.
The second drive is the Travelstar 60GH offering 60Gb and 5400 RPM performance in a 2.5 inch notebook drive. A Travelstar 40GN is also available, offering 40, 30, 20 and 10 G capacities at 20Gb per disk with 4200 RPM. Both Travelstars utilise the IBM Drive Noise Suppression System.
The new 2.5-inch enhanced availability Travelstar models are designed for both traditional notebook and non-traditional applications. They increase available hard disk drive 'power-on hours' and meet the requirements for emerging applications such as those found in 24x7 blade server environments, IBM says.
No pricing information was disclosed.
