Three militants killed in encounter.

THREE militants were killed on Sunday in an encounter with the Army and police in Krumhura hamlet of Handwara, 100 kms north of Srinagar, the police said.

According to police the encounter started last night after the Army, special operation group of police and paramilitary CRPF launched a search operation in Khumhair forests of Handwara following information about presence of the militants in the area.

Giving details he said following a tip - off about the presence of the militants in Krumhura village special operation group ( SOG) of police along with 21- RR and nine Para of the Army and 92- battalion of CRPF cordoned off the area and launched massive search operation.

" During the searches, hiding militants fired upon the joint search team triggering an encounter. The encounter ended with the elimination of three unidentified militants," the spokesman said. He said three AK riffles, 14 magazines, six UBGL grenades were recovered from the encounter site.
