Three medical centres closed, two doctors suspended.

Summary: ABU DHABI - The Medical Licensing Committee has ordered the closure of three medical centres and facilities for violating rules and regulations of Ministry of Health (MoH) besides approving a number of decisions.

Chaired by Dr Salem Al Darmaki, the committee approved a number of decisions including the closure of three medical centres and facilities for violating licensing conditions and not abiding by the rules and regulations of MoH.

This was stated by Dr Amin Al Amiri, executive director for Medical Practices and Licences at MoH and vice-chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to suspend one doctor and a dentist because the practioner did not have a MoH licence while the dentist was suspended for two months and transferred for reassessment by the committee due to inadequacies in his clinic, Dr Amin said.

Dr Amiri said the committee gave a final warning to a dermatologist for the misusage of laser. He said a gynaecologist has been transferred due to the professional's responsibility for the death of an infant after birth. With respect to the closed health facilities, a surgery unit was closed for non-compliance to the rules and regulations of MoH.

The committee also decided to close a clinic in Ras Al Khaimah due to a doctor prescribing medicines against C MoH norms.
